First Mo painting WIP

My computer's hard drive broke. Again! :o( Something was wrong with it, and now I am working in a very different and weird set of programs. So I have not been able to use, crop and upload pictures my normal way. So stressing! But anyway, I have been painting and here's the first of my four "it's all about Mo" challenge. First the WIP when I had only painted part of it:

And this other picture is missing just a few touches and the last protective coat. I made it as close as possible, just to see if I could. It was very difficult! I discovered so many other hidden colors that I didn't notice the first time, and I learned that his brush strokes are very rough and short. His canvas had a very rough feeling, so i added a bit of texture to my paper. Yes, I had the great idea to work on paper, let me tell you, it is the pits to add texture to it :oP
14 x 17 vellum bristol

Hopefully I can go back to my computer soon, I miss my little programs and applications like my old shoes. Thanks for visiting!
PS Congrats to PPF in their first year!!!!! ♥

Lovely painting! I can empathize with your computer issues. My computer refused to talk with the modem for a bit, however all are happy again. It is like withdrawal to be unable to do what we always do with our computers. I hope yours is working again quickly.
Happy PPF Anniversary! Helen @ Natures Walk

Great job! I'm working on two that are pretty representational right now - one in watercolor and one in acrylic.

I love how you are recapturing Modigliani through this wonderful painting. He's one of my faves too! Isn't it amazing how much you can learn just by trying to replicate another artist's work? Beautiful job!
Happy PPF,

WOW! Can't believe you are working with materials you aren't happy with. This is terrific, just beautiful. He is one of my favorite artists.

Can't wait to see what you do when you are working on a surface that you like.

Thanks!
Well I do love paper, but for this case it is not giving me the same texture. Mine "looks" like it has some, but it is pretty much flat, and in his painting you can see it was a very bumpy. :oP Regardless, I am enjoying his work a lot ♥

I was just poking around Paint Party Friday and just found your blog. I really like your work and I like Modigliani too. In fact I just finished a painting I call "Modigliani's Marie"...it's my own twist of color and paper patterns on his Marie portrait. I am unclear...are you having a Modigliani challenge?

Greetings from Wichita, Kansas!

You're off to a great start! After I read the post about your "Mo" challenge I was inspired to dig out one of the books I have about Modigliani and I'm currently re-reading it :) I'm hoping that by the end of the month I will be able to find some time to complete a painting for your challenge.

p.s. I totally can relate to getting used to certain programs and ways of doing things on the computer - the old shoes comparison is perfect!

Sorry about your woes with the computer,I'm having issues leaving comments when using my IPad; out of the blue it freezes in the middle of my sentences and I loose the comment.Have no idea why it's doing that : (
