I like to work with a very smooth surface for the faces, and lots of texture for the background. In this case I have also leaves on the left side, so that's a different texture as well:
Now it has to dry for a few hours... I can't wait to start adding layers of color!

My son turned 18 yesterday. Where did the time go?
We had a good day and even the weather in the evening was lovely ♥

I'm about 6 months behind you for TWO boys turning 18!! They were just babies yesterday... cute toddlers, etc., etc...
oh how exciting...love texture and love the piece you are working on!!!! and wow...your son will be 18!!!! time sure flies doesn't it!!!!
