Portrait WIP

All these past days were very stressing with the elections, and I have not been inspired in the least with the results. I just keep praying that there is a reason to the events. That's all I'm going to say about that.

Now, the fun part of the post is all the colors I have been adding to this canvas, which has been on my table for quite a while. There is a video of it coming soon, hopefully ;o)

WIP. This is how she started:

This is in the middle of the process,  when I noticed one of her eyes was off kilter, and she was not looking at me directly. I fixed it and also was not happy with the hair, but got stuck and had no idea where to go....

So I decided to play with a couple of ideas and elements. Different hairline, washes and I was very tempted to paint a bird....

I am much happier with it now. She is looking directly at your eye; I like the halo, but still feel I'm not done. I will keep playing for a little while longer.

Thanks for visiting and keep an eye over here, I will be editing the video to post it maybe in a couple of days, even if youtube takes forever to upload :o)

Love the process you went through. Sometimes we have to walk away from a painting for a bit and come back later and see it in a different light. I like her.. :)

Martha, I loved the step by step process you made in this beautiful painting. I like everything about it. As to the election, the results were very upsetting to me and all the people I know and love. My area wanted the US to return to its roots and to the 3 definite divisions of government: executive, judicial, and legislative. The lines have blurred. However, we are told to pray for our leaders, so it is important to pray for the president that he will make godly decisions.

Beautiful face and skin tones! Love the colors, and the process, too. Like you, I like to keep politics out of my art blog, but I will say one thing, and that is: I suspect the results will not be nearly as bad as you may have heard. So let's all make tons of art and be kind to each other. :)

Hi Martha, I really love all the colors and changes. So much fun to see. The background squares are so textured, how did you do that? Is it acrylic, but with a thickener?

jane said...

I love her halo too!
-and the swirling textures (top right) are gorgeous :D

Ayala Art said...

Yes Gloria, thanks, it is a texture medium to add volume.
It is in the video but the video site and my browser have been fighting. I hope to fix that today and post it here finally :o)
