Back in the saddle again, 8th day of Art

My computer is working again!! yaay! (running all over the room yelling, flailing arms)  I spend a good part of the day trying to grab an image for my post in the old portable, and it was very close to impossible, because I took a picture kind of far, and the program there doesn't crop, so I was about to start clonking my head on the desk, until super man came to the rescue with a magical box, plugged some wired did some magic, and voila! I'm able to go back to my stuff.

Funny how a piece of metal with plastic can make us feel so happy :oP

OK, and onto the art!
Remember I mentioned a painting I had not included in the video? Here it is:

And a close up showing the yummy texture and tons of layering:

However, I still couldn't catch the "interference" with it's delicate shimmery sparkle on the wings. Maybe with outside light? I just didn't want to wait anymore. And just for the record: it's such a pleasure to be able to crop! LOL  I'm on a roll baby!! \(ツ♥)/

I hope you enjoyed today's Art.Please let me know what you think!

Selene keeps changing

So far, I modified Selene's forehead with a bit of paperclay, trimmed her clay hair so I could use mohair (after Trace's approval)... painted her with acrylics, then added hair, a crown and finished her dreamy eyes with eyelashes. I think she looks so pretty!

One tiny fairy said: "We painted you nicely"

the other fairy said: "Are you sure you don't want a tutu?"
"we need to give her a crown!"

And as much as I want to keep going.... I think she's ready to fly to Florida.

Traveling doll Selene

Selene arrived from the UK days ago. She is a blank canvas with an awesome journal!
I don't even want to touch the journal, it is so beautiful! :o)
Well, This is how she looked when she arrived:

And this is how she looks today:
She is being transformed with color, soon she will have hair, then she will continue traveling to Florida where I'm sure she'll have lots of fun.

The day Luna ran

For the ADO "Traveling doll project" I made a paperclay doll, sculpted over aluminum foil, and painted with acrylics. She will travel to Florida to Raedell and then shipped to the UK to Tracey. After their hands are done creating and modifying her, she will come back to me.... I made a story for her:

The day Luna ran ....and ran

For centuries, every month on a full moon, there had been some little green figures that come to dance in the moonlight, giggling at their shadows, singing and stripping off layer after layer of their fanciful clothing as they get too warm from frolicking around. Their attire is made of nice petals, twigs and shimmery fabric delicate like bug wings.

One night in particular, they were so distracted romping and dancing, they didn’t see a human getting close until he trapped poor Luna, the youngest of them all, who was sitting on a rock. She had danced since dusk and was enjoying the full moon, thinking of climbing on sunflowers and catching rain drops.

The mean human stole her clothes; he took her crown away, her shoes and also her long shiny hair! He knew they liked to dress up and gather treasures and would do anything to keep their things.
With a very unpleasant voice he told them the only way he would give the stuff back, was if she could find him the best tea in the world... or something just as good. He was tired of boiling old dusty, dried California desert leaves. He threw every item he had stolen from her and tossed it far, far away into the East blowing wind... And stomped away.

Luna never was one to lose her temper, so she sat and closed her eyes to think. The little green people gathered around and decided to give Luna a nice bag to bring back whatever she could find and told her to run… to run East.

Luna ran and ran all through the continent, but only at night. She was a bit wary to travel without a single stitch on in all her green splendor and no hair on her head. Every time she could, she would sit and close her eyes, thinking of sunflowers and clouds, pretty dresses and flowing hair…
She kept running passing rivers, hills, valleys, rocky roads and swamps, until she arrived to Florida, where she found something special.

After a while she kept running until she clear ran out of land, so she swam and swam heading East as she was told,’ till she found land again on a big island next to the continent in the other side of the world. Which was a good thing since the water was a bit too chilly.

Will she get her possessions again? Will she be able to find her way home?
Follow her progress here, and also the adventures of Victoria and Selene, my team partners Art Dolls.

wow... what a trip!

I have spent the most enjoyable hours, visiting blogs for the OWOH blog event... Meeting new people, discovering awesome artists/crafters, drooling on their giveaways... I hope I can win something! :oD
There's still like another 600 to go, but there is time.
I found more Frida fellow fans, wonderful painters, all kinds of crafts... yummy colors.... A true feast for the eyes!

Thanks to all the people that have visited! New people and the ol'friends as well, it means a lot to me and fills my little heart with joy:o)

News about my ADO project... My dolls now has been all sanded up, added some extra plumpness LoL she was a bit too skinny, and if she's going to go in such a longs trip back and forth, she needs extra padding ;o) I will take a new picture, this is how she looked before. Now she has more curves and toes.
Poor thing she'll go almost naked to Florida, hopefully she'll have some clothes on by the time she goes to the UK.

She's all done....

I finished one of the dollies last night, and here's the picture. It was kind of hard to decide on the hair color... I wanted light purple but I think this light yellow looks better.
She is the one on the right on the past posting :o)

Now my movie comments.... weeks ago we went to see "Where the wild things live".
What can I say? The book is cute. I don't particularly remember it since my kids are older, but I remember I thought the drawings were fun.... the monsters in the movie are awesome, the kid actor is cute and talented, visually the film it is very rich and creative. That part I enjoyed.... but the yelling, the brattiness and specially the end... yuck! I was really expecting some loving words from the mom at the end (As in, don't you ever go like that again :oP lol) or a tender "sorry mom, I'll never do it again!" from the kid. Nada. We went straight from biting mom, running wild, and coming back to chocolate cake. HUH? That only makes me think the guys that made the movie took some large liberties of poetic license and.... they don't have kids!
That end needs a good fixing, otherwise it is a deflated balloon.

Starting another one?

Somehow I hurt myself again. I was recuperating so well but I over did stuff and now I have to go back to take it easy. Oh well...
I decided one way to keep myself put, was to start a doll.
So I went to my table of doll stuff and wanted to start another doll, and then I felt someone looking at me. It was all the unfinished dolls I left there, bald and barefooted all the way to the neck... lol so I guess I will be adding hair and dressing dollies for now. :oD

So, how are you guys today?

WIP and stuff

It is hot out there, but that's ok with me!
I have been working off and on in my ADO project and other little things. Here's a WIP picture and he'll be ready tonight if I can handle the kids visits (which now include pets, mind you...) and cutting and stitching.

I found a new spot to take pictures and I've been trying to take better pictures as well. I love my light box but it was a bit limiting for some bigger things, so now I don't have walls in it, just the back drop. That way I can change backgrounds easier too.

I want to share some punch of energy with you all....
Panzon actually moved twice this week! LOL ... oh, who could live like a cat! (except for the nap-next-to-smelly-shoes part! ;o)

oh! I also added a "Label cloud" to my blog, on the right side, to find old postings easier and it looks cool. I thought it was going to be really hard, but it wasn't (cross your fingers it won't collapse on me!!) lol

June 5, 2009

Summer, dolls and stuff

Well, summer vacation is here, school is over.... yaay? Kind of yay, maybe lol
Hard to keep kids busy and the craft going, much less listing... how do everyone else does it, I wonder? I need to put my act together. My older one finished his freshman year and my younger one is going to Junior High.
I finished 2 of the tiny elves I started under pressure (the dishwasher drama) and here are some pictures, they are around 3 inches tall.

Now as for the dishwasher drama..... after waiting for 3 weeks for the repair man to bring it back, he came and re installed it and left ...then I noticed that the timing was weird: the quick wash was like 5 hours!? and the longest wash only 15 minutes....?? So I decided to test it and it started to smell like burnt stuff!! oh--my--gosh.... Forward next day, they come, test for a long time, re program the buttons to adjust time, and convince me that it will smell like that because of the new liner inside. Oh well. If my house burns down you know who to blame. >:o/

In other news, after months of insisting, finally my daughter convinced me to get her a Guinea Pig. He's the funniest little thing! :oD

May 19, 2009

Time sure flies!

These past weeks went up so fast and I was not even having fun! heheh OK, I had some fun, but I mayor and lesser dramas going on.
In no particular order: We went to a wedding, we had to get a math tutor, my husband was very ill with fever for a whole week, and my dishwasher is still broken and I am still waiting for that repair man.
Note, every situation was completely unrelated to each other. The only thing in common is that I was involved in there. Just in case you wondered. :oP

While waiting for the repair man I went on a sculpting frenzy, so here are the faces, the quarter is for reference, they are tiny!

Now I have to make the rest of the little body parts ;o)
OH!! And remember the little elf with no hair I posted not too long ago? She decided she wanted purple/pinkish hair and a hat. What do you think? I particularly think she looks darling with her hat on :o)
Next to her is her albino elf friend. He has been showing a bit of a tantrum... see the lip? hehehe

I almost didn't want to post, so that the ADO video was the posting on top, but I am about to finish the next video, so I may as well blog today. If you join ADO after watching my slide show, let them know it was because of me (Ayala Art) and they will give me a dollar per each new member. Just kidding!! hahahaha They won't give me anything but I will feel happy ;o)
I hope everyone will have a nice, healthy and safe Memorial weekend!

February 26, 2009

Before February is gone...

I hope everyone had a wonderful Groundhog day, Valentine's day, President's day, Mardi Gras, and why not, Ash Wednesday as well...

Updates, OK, The video I talked so much about some postings ago went great. We got an A+! yaay! I have to shorten it a bit to unload it here, it's too big so "whenever if ever" I will upload and post. It is actually a very funny video, and it is educative as well, since it had ti be based on the Odyssey.

Now as for dolls.... I have been finishing all the half-finished projects, so the poor things can be done.
Remember the one picture with several DOLLY heads? I just finished the smallest of them, and if I may say so myself, she turned out pretty cute. I made her hat with leather and a tiny bell so she can be seen and heard ;o) Just 3.5 inches tall, hat and all.

January 26, 2009

The other side of the world... to me.

I have to tell you, my faith full three readers, about a new discovery I made.

You know I love ACEOs, and I love blogs.... so to meet a blogger that makes ACEOs is a great thing, but when the artist lives in an exotic far away place, it always deserves a special mention.

Please visit SUTTILAK's blog and look at all the art he has there. Not only the paintings, but the links to his music! Oh gosh I LOVE that video I don't remember the name of the instrument, but it's awesome!! So relaxing.... great job there!

Now I'll go back to my little spot under 20 the covers and coats... I am cold! Is it February already?? Not yet?? OK... I'll wait a bit longer, like the groundhog. :oP

Here's a picture of a hippie looking fairy with her new wings:

Getting a bit cold?

I know, we are not supposed to complain about cold weather in this part of California, but, it got a bit cold in here. Instead of searing 100's we are now in the 80's, so it is a bit cooler! lol
Anyway, inspired by the weather (or dreaming, more like... we get about 3 molecules of snow every 10 years around here!) I finished finally my little Snow.
I've been working on her (and her little siblings) for a couple of weeks now, I'm very happy with the results.
For her cocoon, I was going to add some beads, but she doesn't need them after all, with that pretty glimerish fabric. So there's just a touch of blue to make her look like a baby ice princess ;oD

September 30, 2008

Trying to keep up...

Is not even cold yet and half the house hold has had already a cold, fever or both. Except me, I reserve the right to remain healthy until the Airborne Sebastian guy shows up in my town. Have you seen that Goofy Commercial ? It's a crack up!

Oh! I was sculpting for a while the other day, and came to the computer to check on
something. When I turned around, my doll had disappeared! I walked around, went to check different places to see if I took her somewhere else, though I was
sure I left her on the same table.
So I went around and around till I heard a little giggle and saw
something moving by the corner. HUH? I couldn't believe my eyes... I
ran to get the camera. See for yourselves, I caught it on
film, she was hiding from me. hehehehe

So she's still bald and hiding, and I'm silly. Now, the little baby elves I got to catch? Those were nicely done and have colouful hair and a nice little cozy pouch.
What do you think?

Listing finally

So thrilled to have new listings again!
I have a little bit of here and there.
Later today I'll be uploading and listing.
Check my OLA, my Etsy and Ebay.
Yes I know... ebay again.
After all the commotion I think some of the dust is settling.
It is scary. A lot of people are going to other places which is good (Like a friend said: "you should not have all your eggs in one basket"), going to other groups, and I guess some are keeping their hopes on ebay.

There's also this new site Doll and Art Live. Looks very nice and it's all dolls.

So, here's Brontë, all finished. She is a posable polymer Art Doll.

She is a little bit of a gypsy.

Spring is in the air

I love it when the trees start getting all covered in colors and new leaves. The plumbs are all pink, they look so silly this time of the year, but I love it.

I have some very exciting news!
Last month the art site Art And Craft Auctions was looking for a logo and guess who won?? It was great news!
They even opened a new doll area after I suggested it!
They are wonderful and have been working very hard at it. :oD

And talking about dolls, I have been working on the outfits of my polymer dolls.
In my opinion (but I am quite partial!) they look great lol
This is the little one, only 6.5 tall:

I will post a picture of the other one soon.
And don't be shy, feel free to leave me a comment!

February 19, 2008

Insert appropriate title here

I bumped into THIS wonderful blog posting.
It's regarding the same thing we've been talking about, the crazy ebay changes, just with another point of view, even better. Or should I say scarier?

Viva Ola!
I'll put my nickle in just about any other auction/sales site that will respect me, give me back the fun of listing, and will not tie my hands when the occasional mean buyer attacks.
In my art ID I have been lucky to meet so many nice repeating buyers, but in our other ID, the one where we sell all kind of odds and ends... man, I have had a couple of bidders who'd make a Tazmanian-devil faint.
OK, 'nuff of that!

~*~ ~*~
In other news, I have been working with polymer, and loving it!
I thought I was going to have a hard time making hands and feet, so I started by working on those.... but what do you know?? By the time I tried to make a face, I woke up to reality and no other material I have tried has given me so much ... frustration? LOL
I made some weird looking heads... I messed with them till it looked more like an old asian lady instead of a cute young girl (my initial goal) So I kept making one after the other.....
I realized my problem was the eyes I had baked, and the fact that I was not setting the eye ball deeper into the head. :oP
So I have cut the ball in half and I have added more to the top of the head.
What do you think?
Ayala Art
Here I used white clay pre-baked for the eyeballs. I curled the wire because I had nothing to hang her from to bake, so I thought the wire could be her own little stand. It worked.
Ayala Art
This is after I painted the face and eyes
Ayala Art
For this face I used my pre-baked and pre-painted eyes
Ayala Art
I added the eyelashes before baking. It was hard! lol
