Journal page

These are the steps for a page in my art journal. It is loosely based on this painting, and I say loosely because the proportions are off and the result is comical... but I really wanted some texture and do something  from centuries ago. This detail is a Madonna by Duccio painted in the 1300's

First I made a drawing, which proved to be a hard task on the left side of the journal. Then I added a base of ochre:

ACEOs and duties

For the past few days I was on call for Jury Duty. It is a long but interesting procedure, for those that are not familiar with it, and people go there with a mix of dread and interest, for the most part. I was not selected, so I felt a little sad, but here I am with the art work I did at night:

Somehow I think these will be called The three Graces. The third one will be posted tomorrow. Click to see them in Etsy

Charcoal portrait

Here is a 3/4 portrait of a lady. Unfortunately It is loosely inspired in a beautiful portrait. Not that it looks much like her, but it was a beautiful image.
I used charcoal, but i didn't want to deepen the shadows too much. I will add a hint of color later on.

Not so happy yet

I made her hair, but didn't like it so I modified it, and I'm not too happy with it. Every time I want to make something with loose hair it is a big problem :oP  I worked on the eye too but that was after the picture, so it will be for the next post.

Oil Paintings up for grabs!

One of my goals mentioned some weeks ago, included listing my art. I absolutely love painting, but listing can be a pain in the neck sometimes  :oP
So by the time I turn around I have a lot of artwork and no room to keep painting!
Well, I am listing these in ebay. Auction price and even buy it now is a very reasonable price, meant to be sold, not representing the real value of it:

I painted all kinds of beautiful exotic leaves and plants, and the colors are very vivid . All sides are painting so it doesn't need a frame, unless wanted. And it comes ready to hang on the wall ♥

The other paintings will be listed shortly too:
Redhead, brunette and blond.

Day 12, finished the lady

I have been splashing a bit of paint here and there on the drawing I made for Day 4
At several stages I was going to give up and toss it away, but decided to just keep adding more layers of color and this morning it finally turned for the better.
I am still not happy that she doesn't want to look at me, (I love making the portrait look at the viewer right into the eye) but I guess that's the way she is. Her mind is in her art probably. I hope by now it shows that she is holding a paint brush ;oP
(acrylics, collage, on 4.5 x 6 watercolor paper)

And for today, my daughter has a mad cigarette fuming. Her own campaign to show smokin is not good for you.

The background? ... The hair?

There's a couple of changes in the painting but I have to say, I am still not feeling it. (-_-) I think I overworked it, and somehow, somewhere I took the wrong direction.
Here's with hair:

And here's with some changes in the background, and I worked on her mouth in a way that she is smiling:

The colors are sweet and dreamy, but there's something missing and I'm not sure what it is. Maybe the hair.
Well, I have more paintings to scan so I will be working on those.
