Last post of 2014

In other parts of the world, it is already 2015. How does it look, from there you guys? Let me know! :oD
It is still 7:00 in the afternoon, of the last day of 2014. Which by the way, it is a shocker that we are ending it since we barely started not too long ago! What happened? The months flew fast, for sure.
My goals for this ending year was focusing more into painting, and leaving dolls to the back burner, and take many things from my interests list, in order to center in just painting.
I can say that I was 90% successful in my goals, mainly because since last month I started to miss sculpting so badly! lol

In fact, I worked on a class for the past few weeks and registration is open for my new doll class HERE. (and there is a giveaway due next week!!!)
If you know someone would like to make a doll, please let them know ♥

My word for next year is BE. Hopefully I can be and still focus. Hopefully I can focus and still be :oD     Man proposes and God disposes, right?

Thank you for visiting this blog, thank you for your friendship and support.
 Hugs!

Quick post

All these past weeks I have been so busy working on a new class, that I have not had the mind to blog. Then I miss it so much! It feels easier to just post a small something in FB through the day, but now, the way they are filtering the posts, no one gets to see much of anybody...

I am currently having a giveaway in my doll-blog of a free spot in a DOLL class... if you want to participate, let me know!  It is a paperclay doll, and a FUN online class!

As for painting? This is one of the journal pages I have made:

Happy Thanksgiving day!

There have been plenty of bad news on the TV, radio, online...  So many problems, riots, and offenses done to one another...
I just want to say, if we ALL as a family, community, city, country and Planet, take our time to do something NICE for another person, even just a small thing... this will be a better world. Lets always teach the children and remember ourselves, to be nice to each other, and to "pay forward" which is such a wonderful and sweet thing to do.

I wish you all in the US have a wonderful, meaningful Thanks Giving day.
Not just about the meal and the sales, but  about any good experiences and people that helped us grow this past year.   Many blessings (and cake!)

Random stuff

I have been busy with house things, painting another piece of furniture: a headboard for the bed... a bed that we bought a month and 5 days ago, which has been a problem since delivery. They offered us to customize the mattress, then when it was not done right, they told us they could fix it for 100.00 more... huh? ... and still didn't get it right! And guess what? No refunds in custom orders. What a headache. We are still trying to sort that out, the owner is a horrid person.
But, whenever it is solved, we will have a very nice headboard for it. :oP

I also have been painting a lot, making videos, preparing for a new class next year in SoulFood group, and also making more online classes to purchase from my blog.

My DH and I have been going for nice longer walks now that the weather is not hot. I always forget to take a camera to take pics of the leaves...

I clipped the shrubs and my flowers and brought inside some bougainvillea branches. The flowers are a gorgeous pink/purple color that I love.
The roses still will be blooming for another month. the heat was so heavy in all the poor plants, they just now are coming alive. If I get a calla lillie I will rush to take a picture. Usually that one only flowers in the spring, but it is looking very happy at the moment, so maybe it will show me one ♥

Thanks for visiting!  More art coming soon (°‿~ )

Twinkling H2O paintings

Free video!
I had fun painting this page in the traveling journal, with the twinkling H2O watercolors... they are so pretty! The colors are beautiful and shimmery ♥
I had a typo at the end, it is "Golden fluids" for the hair, but somehow it only showed "gold"  so I corrected it ... it is actually Raw Umber.

I'd love it if you leave a comment in the video site !

Somehow I managed to run over a HUGE screw and washer... which of course poke a hole.

Nothing much

This past week was not much for art. I had a horrid stomach flu, slept for 3 days straight, pretty much just thrown on the recliner feeling miserable. By Sunday I felt better and yesterday, Monday, I had dental surgery... again... same spot. Hopefully this time it was done correctly, I am so tired of dealing with it!   /(ಠ_ಠ)\
...Please zcuse the rant.

Anyway, that was that. I want to show you the video I made few weeks back.
Along with it, I reorganized my blog a bit, and have a "Free" section, full of free goodies I've made through the time for my blog readers!
Check again later when I upload the button for it ♥

But here are my cartoons of the week so far. I posted Monday, and here come Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

I will be working on the comics for the other days too, so keep an eye on my blog to see them next :oD

I changed a bit my banner..

Last night, after so many days of cake (3 birthdays in a row!) I was in a sugar rush I guess, so I decided to work on my banner. I have been using the little face as a logo for years, but I wanted her smiling. Of course I don't have the larger original, after so many computer crashes *sight* But I had some in a workable size and now it is backed up.
Don't forget to back up your images people! I personally do not like the" cloud", but many do, either disc, online or any other way, remember to back up.
I cannot even tell you the amount of stuff I have lost due to a virus or a computer digital tantrum, so annoying!

Anyway, now I have a smiling banner.

And I made a comic. Hate Mondays lol

What I've been up to...

After that FUN art marathon for 29 faces, I took a couple of days to think what's next and to tell work on my next class the Soul Food ....yaay!

And today is my Bday. Here, I will share an Oreo cookie with you haha
I added a cool effect in the picture, looks much better than my simple coffee cup :oD

The weather is nice, so I will go and sit outside and draw. Tonight I will go have dinner with my darling and my younger one, who was also my best B-day present ever, 17 years ago ♥ My older one has classes till late today.

Thanks for visiting. Hugs!

27 and 28 running late!

Photos for today's faces!
I do not practice enough my photography, which is a funny thing in this time and age when everybody and at all times people are over-documenting their photo-lives with selfies hahaha :oP

Well, anyway, we went out of town and I came across a shop with statues. So beautiful! I wish I had the space for one, and the way to bring it home.... they were so heavy!

This face is No 27:

How to paint rocks with acrylics Face 26 of 29, a rock!

How to paint stones and rocks with acrylic paint!

Tiny tutorial:
I painted a tiny rock, and I had a blast!
After finding the smoothest and the right color, got my pencil and made a simple sketch, then with one of my tiniest brushes I added flesh tones, hair, and a flower.

Very simple, but I think it turned out cute ♥
There is a quarter next to it for size comparison, but if you are not familiar with it, it is smaller than 1 inch (less than 3 cms.)

Face 25 is abstract.

I am enjoying more and more doing abstracts.
It's been difficult because I love to go into details so much, and I love my tiny paint brushes, but there is freedom in a larger brush and simpler paint strokes.

In this case the flash for the photo changed one of the eyes, but I liked the effect so I left it, didn't correct it so it has an extra effect not planned. :o)

In this 29 faces challenge we are working on techniques and different ways from our usual as an exercise for the mind and hopefully the growth of our art.

No. 23, charcoal sketch

I usually use charcoal in a different manner, but in this sketch I just made the face and stopped right there. Not even shadowing.

As we are coming to the end of the challenge, I'd like to  know if you have learned something new about yourself, your likes and dislikes. Specially those that are new to the 29 faces.

No. 18, 19 WIP

We went to a concert at the fair last night.... it was awesome! Kansas played, and I have to say they are superb. Period.
But that made me totally forget to post :oP

So here we go, 18 and 19 out of 29 faces.

An ACEO and a journal page. I have been working with rough texture, which is rare for me to do so. Usually I like softer surfaces but this is great fun!

I am leaving this for today as it is, but will finish it tonight.

I need to work on my little shop and Halloween seems to be as good time as any for it :oD

The journal page is showing some steps, most likely I will make it in to a super short slide show ...
Thanks for visiting! And so happy to be featured in this weeks Paint Party Friday!
Sharing with AJJ too

No. 13 and 14 of 29 faces. Photos

This past weekend we went antiquing to N California and although I didn't find something to buy, I took a few pictures. We were hoping for cooler weather up there, but no luck. It was still in the 100s. The sad part was looking at the water reservoirs, so low!

Well, back to the challenge, for today I have photos of faces digitally manipulated. Something very simple because the faces were already fun to see as they were:

One is a Dia de los Muertos  window display, and the other a beautiful carving in an antique armoire.

No. 12 ... shiny!

This is another of my on going "finish-this-painting-this-year" work lol
Left it on the side for a while, came back and added a metallic layer, flesh tones, eye colors.... and I will be working on the hair soon.

It is acrylics on a 6x4 card.

No.10 ... hair options

I have posted several times by now about how I make a print of my painting and test  a couple of things when I am not sure what direction to take.... particularly with hair.

So for today, I want to share that part of the process for my face No. 10 in the 29 faces.

I painted on wood (video coming soon!) and made a few different styles to look at and decide.

I love wind blown hair, it is so much fun to paint/draw ... but long "quiet" hair is sweet too. Which will it be?   ;o)

No. 9 ...more texture!

I started this painting some time ago and at some point I lost my direction.
At first I wanted just an abstract, then i started to make one of my bald people.... but then i wanted sweet and cute and it was impossible to change direction and I got stuck.

By leaving the piece alone for a while, I learned it was going to follow it's own path, so I just added paint washes of color to get to this point.
I might give it some stain to show more the cracklings but I am happy with the way it is turning out.

No. 8 with crazy texture

As much as I love texture, this was particularly difficult to deal with :oD
It is very abstracted, and I am sure it is still in process, since I am not totally done playing with it.... The second one is digitally edited:

No. 7 Pineapples!

Lady with pineapples.
This one face I started long time ago and left it on the pile of "for later when my muse returns" Muse returned, she got done. I think it turned out nice, if I may say so myself lol  :oD

The challenge here was to use neutral colors and a limited palette. Since I always use  a bazillion colors, most of them very bright.

Traveling journals update

Here is one more Journal, stopping by my house in its travels.
This one is from Ilona in Germany. Serious and pensive, like those photos from the 1800's when people should not smile at the camera.

And this is the page I made for Mary in Canada, the 5x7 journal: A bit quirky and has more texture.
