Pineapple oil painting, 9th day of Art

Feels more like a whole month with all this technical drama I had, but today is only the 9th day.
I am about done with this oil panting, but will still add a bit here and there.

This is actually a re-work. It's one of those that I was happy at the time, then I looked at it again and I didn't like it anymore, but I didn't know what to do to it. Destroying art is not my forte. Plus I like the pineapple :o) Although it feels right for others,  I think each person has to do what feels right, but it is really hard for me. I rather repaint, re-work, or maybe give away to someone that likes the painting as it is, even if it's not "me" anymore. (I know, some people will irk at the thought)

This is how it was:

This is how it the transformation:

This the way it's looking so far:

And now, talking about puffy clouds, I bid you Adieu, because there's a bad thunderstorm and I don't want to fry my computer!

  1. It's beautiful, Martha! I liked the original a lot but then when I saw the transformation, I liked it even better.

  2. They are both lovely paintings.

I am partial to the original as I like the abstraction.
Because of the background the shape of her head stands out and echoes the shape of the pineapple and the undulation of her dress echoes the undulation of the background.

You are very talented and I admire your use of strong color and shape.

  3. Thanks Judith! I enjoy using very strong deep colors. It's been a long road for me to go into more abstracted art, I tend to go too much into details.

  4. Martha, very interesting. You know, when I first saw how it was in the beginning, I really liked it! Then, I see what you have done to it and I like it that way too! LOL! I am like you with my art, I'd rather repaint it or give it away. Have a great day!

  5. Thanks Stacy! In the beginning I liked it too, but then I felt it was missing something.
I have another picture of when I just had it sketched, it was the time we were also working on the kitchen remodel... it was funny to see the painting there!
