Green green pink!

Here is my week 5 for the SOC:

I have not painted much this week because I have been editing. It takes longer that I plan and specially the music! Selecting music for videos is the hardest part for me!

Question: when you watch video tutorials, do you like the person to be talking as the project goes, or do you prefer a more quiet brief explanation and see the action of the project?
Thanks for any input!

  2. Beautiful colors. I don't like music with videos because it may or may not be something I am "into". I like to hear ongoing explanation, but not just talking for talking's sake.

  4. So beautiful! I love what you did with this week's colors. And to answer your question, I don't have a preference - I like videos either way as long as the video itself clearly shows us how made your art!

  5. I added a comment but poof...it was gone. I really like the painting...the lips are very interesting, as I was trying to decide the attitude the show.

  6. I like your pink and green face. As for videos, I don't like music with a tutorial. I'd rather just concentrate on the visual part. If there's music I usually mute it. I like explanations of what is happening...it can just be a quick little bit. If the video is good then it will explain itself.

  7. great use of vibrant colors with minimal sketch lines! I do like talking-as long as it's not totally silly randomness to fill up time. It's also nice when you can understand the words despite any accent (which I happen to love).

  8. Lovely! Love the way you have used the colour for the features. Thank you for linking up to #ShowYourFace. Good luck with the video, go with what you feel comfortable with! Have a nice weekend. Kx

  9. Great entry for SOC! About your question: If it's a short video for Youtube f.i. I like mostly to read explanations on the screen, rather than have someone explaining it, because otherwise I need headphones to listen to it. When it's a workshop video I usually watch it in my studio, and then I like to hear the person talk (with music in between)

  10. I love what you did with the colours on this portrait. It's very effective. I think Kim is probably right about the video because if you go with what you feel comfortable with it will be most effective because you will be relaxed. xxx

  11. Your art is lovely! I agree with Kim do what makes you happy with the vids - that being said I prefer vids where I am not watching glue dry and with quick explanation.

  13. Love the expression on your beautiful face!! As for videos nothing worse than someone droning on with no humour. I like it sped up...quick explanation...then speed up the creativity...than a bit more explanation and sped up again... or written text then sped up! If a person is super personable then I love hearing the substance of their explanation! Short videos are best for me! Do it your way... you'll know soon enough if you need to change the production aspect!

  15. I wonder what she is contemplating? Love her face in the colors though. I never thought of painting faces with colors until recently but I love how it looks. I think I like someone talking as they show you the project on YouTube, just as long as its interesting chatter.

  16. You paint SO well. I love her pensive face.

If I realize there's only music and no talking, I turn my speakers off. I think the music is distracting and don't care for it at all. But that's just me. I'd rather just see what is going on and what products are used.

  18. Gorgeous as always, thank you! I wanted to comment that I totally agree about the music and editing sometimes taking as long as the project itself - as of this SOC I am new to YouTube - but I do LOVE it and plan to do it from now on (I can't wait to play with a non-restricted palette ;). I'm a follower of yours there too and really like how you speak to us at the beginning. I think your mix of both is really unique and cool ;) xoox

  20. such vibrant colours very cool. Personally I prefer no talking or very little. A good quick tutorial does it for me , as I don't have time to watch anything that goes to long

  21. Great face, I like the colours. I personally prefer videos that are sped up slightly, with a voice over explanation, I find sometimes when the talking happens at the same time as the creating, sometimes there is a lot of going off on tangents that have nothing to do with the project, and then the video goes for ages.

  22. Wonder with this person is thinking about, it's very expressive. I do love speech if I really want to learn something thats new for me. But sometimes I just want to follow the artsy flow and turn down speech and listen to my own music. So speech always works :)

  23. Lovely technique with the color layers -- thank you for visiting from PPF!

  24. nice vibrant colours :D with videos on techniques I find it helpful if the artist talks about what they are doing, and no loud annoying music helps. they don't have to explain everything, but if the video is showing how to recreate a look, they need to explain how. if its just showing off work, no talking is required besides the basics, materials etc :)

  25. I like the way you have used the pink/green colors on the face. Blessings, Janet PPF

  26. I love to hear the artists voice. However I am thinking of doing the odd video when I get into cardmaking and I hate my voice so I will not be talking LOL Beautiful face!

  27. I really like the way you have used the colours here, and the abstracted face, which is still a face.
What I find useful in a video is if details are also given (as text) on the screen, not a lot, just the important points. Talking is good too, but not all the time. It depends on the artist of course.
And I like the obvious bits speeded up.
