29 faces of 29 faces challenge

The last face was "pulled art" in my journal. She ended up being a swimmer without a suit. lol For some reason some of my paints end up bald or clothless.
This is a detail. The full image is after the page-break.

I always feel a bit sad that the challenge is done, after so much  activity,  sniff-sniff ;o)
but I think it is also good that we take one day to reflect on all the pieces done, and see if we want to take a new direction in our work, if we learned a better way to do something, or if we want to keep experimenting with a new medium.
Thank you so very much for playing along with me!
Now we will have more time to visit all the blogs and enjoy the eye candy!
See you soon!

Two faces for today, 27 and 28 of 29

I made a face yesterday but didn't make it to the scanner... so today I am working on another face and posting early.
These 2 ladies are faces 27 and 28 of the challenge and also are the faces of 2 traveling journals!
The one with the sun in the forehead is for Gina, and the one with the moon is for Anita. You will see them finished in another post, along with all the other ones that I have been finishing without scanning.

I cannot believe we are about to finish another round of 29 faces!

running late! face 26 of 29

wow.... I made my face on time, then I forgot to scan to post! :oP
I am currently working on a texture online workshop... so excited about it! So I got carried away and almost didn't make it to the blog  \(Ͼ˳Ͽ)/
Anyway, remember the barely there face of a couple of days ago? Here she is, wings and all:

I am very happy with the result ٩(^‿^)۶

face 25 made with water soluble crayons

OK. I have to confess I do not like some qualities of the water soluble crayons. Why? Because I am one of those people that has to come back later to keep adding to a painting, and being so used to acrylics (or dry oils for that matter!) I do not expect paint to move on me (read: mess) lol
But on the other hand, there are now such wonderful colors! So basically, I am not new to water soluble wax pastels... but lets say I am not too absorbed with them. At least for now (°‿~ ) I suppose I can get a sticky note remind me to spray the piece when I'm done playing...

The other crayons that drive me a bit nuts are the oil pastels. I like my work to dry properly and not need a glass to protect it.... I know you can set it somehow, but I think we get used to the behavior of a medium and not too much with other kinds.
I know people that don't like acrylics... it takes every kind, right?

OMG... 3 more faces and I'm done!! Are you keeping up?

face 24 of 29. Charcoal

The weather was beautiful today! I ran my errands early, some chores and then I went out among some light rain and some sunshine. Beautiful!
So basically I got home and rushed to finish more stuff, one of them being the face of today. I decided on charcoal. I still need to work on the eyes, but since I am aiming at loose brushstrokes .... I will leave it at that and go back to paintbrushes for now :oD
If I start getting into details I will never stop lol

faces 22 and 23 of 29faces

This weekend was full of surprises. Not all of them the fun kind :oP Lets just say that I didn't have much time to do art, but I made these in the hopes to not fall behind :oP

#22 is one of my girls, but just at the sketch point.

#23 is a crazy mono-printed paper with my gelatine pad. This actually was one I was going to get rid of, but I totally saw a woman there, so I marked the features with my charcoal pencil. can you see her? Click to see larger.

Are you keeping up? Sometimes life goes bananas... we just have to do what we can to hold on tight (-'‿'-)

face #21 of 29

As I was working on the kitty painting of my last post, I realized I was going to have left over paint and I simply cannot stand wasting paint. There are many ways to use the left over paint and this is one of my favorites:

I left the brush run out of paint in some areas to make it look distressed.

This portrait is actually an abstract/stylized nudie. If you want to see the whole image continue...

Girl with kitty. 19 and 20 faces

It's been so long since I didn't paint a kitty! I cannot believe it!

Well, my friend Melo Art posted a link of an artist (whose name escapes me at this moment, sorry!) it was a painting of a cat on a bench in a garden.... that amazed me because it looked like my cat, on a bench lol here he is, modeling:

So after that, of course I needed to make a cat painting. So here it is.
These are faces 19 and 20.

Can you believe how fast the challenge is going?

Working loose. Keeping my lines simple. This is just for the challenge, later on *I know* that this face will be having a bunch of layers of paint.... lol
I can see it in my minds eye :oD

Building a face on black background. No. 17

Starting a paint from black is very different that a light color or a blank page.
It is very interesting! And has a complete separate set of steps :oD

I am going to have so much fun making this face! What new things have you been trying for the challenge?

16th face, a Madonna

This is one of the pages that I had left unfinished in my journal, and it is my face number 16 for the challenge.
I might  add to the background a deeper blue, but since I'm running out of time, I will call it done for today.  It's been a long time since I do not paint a Madonna!

14th face and a Heart

happy Valentine"s day, day of love and friendship!
Today I have not only a face, but a cute heart we found on the sidewalk, it is a leaf. Is't it cute?

And my face for 29 faces: Journal page with acrylics, inks, charcoal.

13th face, digital art

What can I say? It is a lot of fun to play with digital art. I invite everyone to try it at least once. Most cellphones can download an artsy app, or get one for the iPad, computer etc...

I have to confess, I lost track of my goal of  "loose brush work" because I used the pen thingie and I really have no clue what I'm doing there LOL I'm sure there's a bunch of large brushes options to paint, but well.... Nevertheless, it is fun!

Pencil for my 11th face

I tried pencil sketching for this face. I used to draw a lot but I have not done shading in pencil for a long time.

and, I worked on my other page I made in a hurry so here is an update:

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are enjoying the challenge as much as I am! ♥

10th face of February

In a hurry? Just squiggle your brush with some random page. It doesn't even have to make sense. Leave it alone after 5, 10 minutes.

Yes, it is hard to stop but we were in a hurry, right?  (°‿~ )✌
You can always come back to it later.

9th day of the challenge

I'm loving this page! Sometime ago I made a circle in this page, with left-over red paint.
Now a face is coming from it.

7th face of 29 just a WIP in stages

Another "in a hurry" face, just a WIP :o)
How are you doing? It's been one week  since we started the challenge...
Remember this month has 28 days, so make an extra face one day!

Then I added some more paint:

I can keep going and goin, but my goal is to leave the face in bolder brush strokes and less layers than my usual. hard to do!.

6th face for the Traveling Journal

I made this girl face for Joy's traveling journal, I hope she likes her!
The book is about 5x7.
Do you like art journals? I always preferred loose paper but my friend Pam gave me a journal and I have been addicted ever since! (Thanks Pam, like I needed another art-addiction LOL) ♥

5th faces is a folk angel

I decided to try folk art. This is the page I made for Selina in New Zealand's book. It arrived from Angenita in the Netherlands, I will mail it to Gina in England. I ♥ traveling journals!

4th face in February

How re you doing so far?
One fun thing I like to do, is leave just hints of a face in my journals or even canvases sometimes.... to find as treasures later on and work from there.
This is one of them. I will leave it for a while and then come back to work on it and make it totally different :oD
Specially for these first days of the challenge when everything moves too fast.

UPDATE: I worked some more on it. I am not happy with the hair but hey... experimenting is experimenting, right? :oD

3rd face of 29

A dreamy face for today... This is in my larger journal with blank pages.
If you ever get hesitant by a white blank page/canvas, just drop some colors, drag the brush around and make a face on top.
I am not sure if I will work on this face more, I thin I like her just like that.

2nd face of 29 in February

Part of my goal is always to loosen my brush, so it is a lot of fun to leave a page just with a few splashes.
What are your goals for this challenge?

First face!

Quick post of the 29 faces challenge! Remember this month has 28 days, so at one point you make 2 faces if you want to make 29 ♥
This is the face used for the button (might as well use it, right?)

And a page in my journal.  I will keep working on this one still some more but I kind of like it at this stage :oD
