Cleaning, reorganizing (again!) and letting go

You would think that by having the kids (and their errands) out of school, one would have more time to do art. But is not the case. Never is. My schedule (and household) is messed up, crazy and upside down. I know I am not the only one so guess find comfort in numbers right?  I like to box, to put behind doors and inside drawers etc all the stuff in neat little groups.
Well, everything is poured everywhere. 3 people against me LOL (I won't even mention the pets. They are a whole other post altogether....)

So, in my effort to be able to control chaos and claim back some territory, have been reorganizing at least MY stuff. Well, I already went through their closets to donate all the clothing and gadgets they are not able or willing to use again. ☺

Now, slowly, I am listing crafty goodies HERE starting all at 99 cents. Call it separation anxiety, but I just can't go and take artsy/craftsy items in a box to be left abandoned at the donation center. I have to see that it goes to someone that really wants it and ship it to them. ♥

You can expect to see paper goods, cloth, yarn, polymer, wood, even fur and feathers! Heck I'm ready to put the dog and the cat there too LOL
I will list older work as well, so keep an eye and wish me luck!

Last night we were still at 93F / 33C hot weather at 9 PM, goodness gracious. How's your summer going so far?

Small, tiny and super tiny

I was making a polymer clay baby in a smaller size than what I usually make... but it still was too big for what I needed.
One is 3 inches, the other 2.50 more or less
So I made an even smaller one. It turned out cute if I may say so myself, first time I make babies with closed eyes. They both have a soft body and moving limbs.... and the tiniest toes  Xo)

But... it still was too big! So I ended up doing the smallest clay baby I have ever made.

The third baby has a solid body... and it's cold!

I wish I could take a closer picture. Even with my zoom still doesn't show the toes and wrinkles heheeh
The fist one still needs an outfit and hair.

She has hair and a dress now

The second one, just her hat took me the whole day to make that little thing! And for the third one I made a bonnet smaller than that.
Ah, much better with a hat and a blankie!

I will post more pics as I go.  :oD

New baby in the making

I am currently working on a new baby. I think this one will be a boy, but you know how it goes! You can't never be sure until the hair and outfits are on!
I took the picture before sculpting the ears, I think is looking cute so far, what do you think?
Well... gotta go feed the poopies!

Azura and her cupcake

This little thing is called Azura. Her hair is blue, her tutu is purple, her wings transparent and shiny. I offered her a cupcake and she climbed on my hand all smiles, but when I tried to take pictures of her without it, she almost bit me!

Bunch of mini-dramas

I had all kinds of mini dramas happening to me this past week.
First, the new attic door project.
That was such a messy business! plaster all over the place, insulation fluff everywhere, tools and chaos till it was done and painted (and little me doing the picking up of course :oP)

See the anime on the ceiling? That was my kid, she turned into Michael Angelo when she knew she had a chance to doodle with her pencil on the walls lol

Then it was the shocking surprise to see my favorite doll attacked by Panzon, who thought he didn't have enough toys I guess. All her hair was gone :oC

Just look at that face! like saying "What? I'm a cat!"

Also, I participated in a Christmas secret-friend, and the beautiful doll sent to me arrived here broken. :o( I swear we have gorillas and rhinos managing my postal office. Gosh! Fortunately I think I can fix her, but it was a sad thing to see.

This is what I made for my Christmas secret-friend. A portrait of her doggy that went to doggy heaven few weeks ago.

Hope she likes it!! I had not been painting for a while and almost forgot the pleasure of dragging the brush on the canvas...

Another mini drama was last night when my DH decided to have a bit of peanut butter and dropped the slippery glass jar on the floor... agh! there were shards of glass miles away from the jar, took lots of cleaning. I have you know, it's not a fun thing to do late at night LOL.... at least no one was barefooted!

On the lighter side, I listed some items online in Etsy, and ebay.(See the right side bar) Let's see how that goes. :o)

I took some outside pictures of my tiny fairies and I am very happy with the results, so I will have more listings soon.... Wish me luck!

What do you think? I love the tree bark texture!

Looks almost like a fairy infestation

This is what I have been finishing. I am very proud of myself actually! :oD
All those little dolls that were left behind have hair, outfits and wings... it would be so cool to have them in the backyard, in the bushes, popping up from corners... Only that I know some are naughty and it would be a big problem to catch them all lol

And also have been painting. See my WIPs I am not done with all the things I want to finish (or the paints I want to start!) But I am loving it...

I love going from periods with tons of texture, to times when I love soft grayish colors and no texture. Always find so exciting to go from acrylics to oils, then rediscover pastels....
I know, it's more marketable to stick to one thing, have one style.... but alas, I am not there yet... or maybe I am not that kind of artist. Who knows, as long as I find pleasure in it, I guess I am fine :oD

Three down...

Actually I should say four down and one more to go. But anyway, here is another picture with more tiny fairies done, they are a bit less than 3 inches tall. One of them has the tiniest leather shoes I ever made! I think they turned out cute, if I may say so myself :oP

I am also working on some bigger paperclay dolls, and I am holding myself from starting on an Izannah Walker inspired doll. I have the pattern and the general idea, but I need time because it requires a lot of sewing and I am not that fast at it....
But aren't they gorgeous!? Here's a PICTURE of one, from North dixie designs, in case you have not seen one before.

Keep making art and enjoy the autumn!

Only one cake!

What a week! I'm glad is done and over :oD
Half of my family and extended family has their birthday in October... 3 of us birthday people live in the same house so, knowing me, I was going to be eating ALL the cake I could, stuffing my face like a chipmunk, so I only allowed ONE cake for all LOL That's it, no more!
We had a good time, regardless of the limited amount of icing intake ;o)
Once we were all done with he marathon B-days, it all turn Topsy-turby. Belly aches, food poisoning, nasty allergies, hospital visits, tests....

OH! And a terrible dust storm! LOL tumbleweeds a-flyin' trees a-fallin.
Fun fun fun... not!
I will spare you all the details but today things are much better and it is Friday!! yaay! I actually left this post in draft for several days.

I managed to work a bit on my rodent, her name is Carnation isn't she a beauty? LOL
She still needs her tail and details. The little elf has his shoes now but I did not take a picture yet....

See you soon!

Elf boy on the run

Remember my WIP of a little elf? He's all done and ready to run. I named him Whitte Gaelach, which means White moon. The 5 day listing here HERE and I am very happy the way he turned out. He has the cutest little freckles but I'm not sure they show well in the pictures.
I wanted to make his story with a video, but knowing me, it will take me another 2 months to finish that the way I like it, and another one to edit the video... so, I will skip that for now LOL

The people from AMA are running a cool Halloween challenge but I didn't start on time so I will miss it. I will post the winner soon.
The winner of the past Classic Fairy tales challenge, was Sandra Arteaga with a beautiful Snow White. Congrats!

I thought it was cool

I had to post today just because the date is so cool: 09/09/09 ;oD

The Frida cloth doll is all finished! Took some pictures and I think she turned out very nice, with her flowers in the hair.
I think she will go to etsy.

I also listed on ebay polymer baby Amber....

I was so stressed when I thought I lost all the pictures! I strongly recommend to burn a CD with your pics, and backup, and maybe keep the favorite pics on the little camera disc. I deleted a bunch although the little thing can hold like 5 years of images heheeh
Well, live and learn!

My swap baby!

Today I received my swap baby in the mail... I'm so happy!
Remember when I posted about the one I made to send?
Here's the picture before I sent him:

Well I guess I forgot to take a picture after I tied the ribbon and added a baby toy to it...

WIP of doll swap and the beach...

I am so thrilled to show you these pictures! I rarely participate in swaps because it's stressing for me, but once a year or so, I can survive a swap :o)
So for this doll swap we are doing bundle babies. I won't say who is the person I am sending it to because it is a surprise... Xo)

Here is the sculpted head with quilting to form the body:

Here he is with his outfit and hat:

Cozy in his blanket... I still need to add a few touches , like ribbon

I guess he's about 5 or 6 inches by the time I wrap him and all.

....Oh! We went to the coast a couple of days ago. It was great to feel a bit of chill after so many days in the 100's here in town! (38 to 42 Centigrades) This time I did remember to carry our sweatshirts! We were enjoying the cool weather even when it was a bit overcast.

New ADO video, and newblog look

I will start by my blog's new look, tho it was the last thing I did... and by accident! I wanted to add and remove some page elements (to the left menu) and puff! I deleted one thing which contained my backround! I panicked and couldn't replace it... waaAA! So anyway, I went back and started from scratch, ended up with a new look. Hope you all like it! It is bright and whimsical isn't it?? :oD

Now the news: I finished the second ADO video; please take a look and let me know what you think. Vote in the video and if you want to see more, just subscribe to my channel in youtube.

I will be participating in the ADO ELEMENTS Challenge with my tiny elves :oD

On a personal note I have to say: Life is easier with a dishwasher... Yard work sucks when it's too hot.... Weeds should automatically disappear on eye-contact.... and slugs are hideous little critters! :oP
Ta-ta for now!

Summer, dolls and stuff

Well, summer vacation is here, school is over.... yaay? Kind of yay, maybe lol
Hard to keep kids busy and the craft going, much less listing... how do everyone else does it, I wonder? I need to put my act together. My older one finished his freshman year and my younger one is going to Junior High.
I finished 2 of the tiny elves I started under pressure (the dishwasher drama) and here are some pictures, they are around 3 inches tall.

Now as for the dishwasher drama..... after waiting for 3 weeks for the repair man to bring it back, he came and re installed it and left ...then I noticed that the timing was weird: the quick wash was like 5 hours!? and the longest wash only 15 minutes....?? So I decided to test it and it started to smell like burnt stuff!! oh--my--gosh.... Forward next day, they come, test for a long time, re program the buttons to adjust time, and convince me that it will smell like that because of the new liner inside. Oh well. If my house burns down you know who to blame. >:o/

In other news, after months of insisting, finally my daughter convinced me to get her a Guinea Pig. He's the funniest little thing! :oD

May 19, 2009

Time sure flies!

These past weeks went up so fast and I was not even having fun! heheh OK, I had some fun, but I mayor and lesser dramas going on.
In no particular order: We went to a wedding, we had to get a math tutor, my husband was very ill with fever for a whole week, and my dishwasher is still broken and I am still waiting for that repair man.
Note, every situation was completely unrelated to each other. The only thing in common is that I was involved in there. Just in case you wondered. :oP

While waiting for the repair man I went on a sculpting frenzy, so here are the faces, the quarter is for reference, they are tiny!

Now I have to make the rest of the little body parts ;o)
OH!! And remember the little elf with no hair I posted not too long ago? She decided she wanted purple/pinkish hair and a hat. What do you think? I particularly think she looks darling with her hat on :o)
Next to her is her albino elf friend. He has been showing a bit of a tantrum... see the lip? hehehe

I almost didn't want to post, so that the ADO video was the posting on top, but I am about to finish the next video, so I may as well blog today. If you join ADO after watching my slide show, let them know it was because of me (Ayala Art) and they will give me a dollar per each new member. Just kidding!! hahahaha They won't give me anything but I will feel happy ;o)
I hope everyone will have a nice, healthy and safe Memorial weekend!

The other side of the world... to me.

I have to tell you, my faith full three readers, about a new discovery I made.

You know I love ACEOs, and I love blogs.... so to meet a blogger that makes ACEOs is a great thing, but when the artist lives in an exotic far away place, it always deserves a special mention.

Please visit SUTTILAK's blog and look at all the art he has there. Not only the paintings, but the links to his music! Oh gosh I LOVE that video I don't remember the name of the instrument, but it's awesome!! So relaxing.... great job there!

Now I'll go back to my little spot under 20 the covers and coats... I am cold! Is it February already?? Not yet?? OK... I'll wait a bit longer, like the groundhog. :oP

Here's a picture of a hippie looking fairy with her new wings:

Video

My first post in 2009!
I have been working on and off on this little video, for a group of friends who love to sculpt polymer babies. I uploaded in the past some versions of it as I was working on it, (I deleted most of them) and I think this is the last version.

I simply admire the talent of this wonderful ladies, enjoy!
