Frida's Blue Bird House

This is Frida's blue hose. If Frida was a bird. Or if a birdy named Frida lived here... Because it is a real working bird house.
...Or you can just keep it as part of the decor. It can also be used as a fancy outhouse (for a tiny midget). Maybe not.

Well in any case, I listed this original and colorful piece. It is one of those projects that took a while to finish then I didn't know where to list it,  but finally here we go!

Painted in all 4 sides as shown. I love painting on wood. See it HERE

I also listed a wood mini paint on ebay HERE

Blog award :o)

Thank you so very much to Jane Campbell for giving me the Versatile Blogger Award! She has a beautiful blog, I very much enjoy visiting :o)
The rules are that I am to disclose 7 things about me and pass the award along to other bloggers.
So, based on that, lets see if I can disclose seven things without getting naughty or bore you too much hahaha

 Lets see...
1. Pride and Prejudice is my ultra favorite movie. I have seen every variation on the theme but the one I like best is with Mathew M. (I know, that's not news, but did you know I have watched it about 800 times by now?)

2. Taking naps makes me cranky. No one needs me cranky, so no naps for me. I decided that long time ago, at the ripe old age of 6, after they left me sleeping the whole day, then it was night time and time to go to sleep. What a rip off!  :oP

3. I can write with both hands. Well for that matter, I can make a BIG mess with both hands!

4. One of my favorite things is reading about life in the 1800's Sometimes I think I would love to visit that era to see the architecture, the gowns, the ample spaces with no traffic... but then I think of all the other very real negatives (like no clothes washer, no phone, no dental floss..) and then I feel thankful of living in this era. Although in some aspects I don't really know which one is really worse.

5. Every day I pray for peace in our world. If I could have ONE wish come true, it would be that all people shall be honest and respectful to others. That would be so much nicer and definitely peaceful.

6. I HATE onions.... and the onions hate me back. I don't even cry when I cut them muaHaHaHa

7. I am Team Edward!. I never really cared about the book or the movies... anything related, until this past movie. Oh my gosh, Edward is a very close call to Mr Darcy. hmmmmm, well, not that close.
;o) OK before my DH gets mad, I will say he's the number one (and he knows it) hehehehe

And now, following procedures, I will pass this award to some super duper blogs:

http://magiclovecrow.blogspot.com

http://www.davidmcgrieveyillustration.com

http://lunagraphica.blogspot.com

http://thetreadler.blogspot.com

http://newclaynews.blogspot.com

http://joinjanine.blogspot.com

http://blueyeduckstudios.blogspot.com

I know, some people hate awards, other people love them. Please don't feel like you have to do it if you don't like it, just get the good feeling and let's keep going :o)
Hugs to all!

Cool blog tip!

Hey there! I have a cool widget to add to the blogs! I know, some of you know already, but it took me a while to find the "like" box in facebook. Probably because I don't spend a lot of time there, but anyway, I was so tickled I wanted to share this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIhRNDgPmlE

Where they explain very nicely and simple how to do it. It is for word-press, but the only difference is that for blogger, you "add a gadget" for java/html and you are ready to go! The rest of the explanation is the same.

Well, enjoy! And let me know when you are done, so I can go and "like" you :oD

Thank you sweet old lady...

Remember my last post where I said " we are in the right place at the right time"? well....

This morning I was taking my son to a summer class, and I had been complaining all along about this sweet, SLOW old lady driving infront of me. I was getting so frustrated with her! Finally I was able to pass her, then made my change of line to turn to another street, where within seconds a HUGE pickup came from the opposite  side of traffic, crossed through my line and crashed against a block wall and broke it.
Few seconds earlier and it would've been me, not the wall. I had to keep going so not to stop all the traffic behind me, but first thing I thought was... Thank you slow old lady! Thank you Lord!

If the block wall was broken, I would've been killed. But nothing happen, the pick up didn't crash anyone, and the driver was walking when I was coming back from dropping my son.

I feel blessed and very lucky. :o)

Here is one of the ACEOs my daughter and I made yesterday. Yes, it is Scruffie.

We are making more doggy ACEOs, and some of Panzón too so he won't be jealous (like if he cares!)

Not the only one

As I was doing my blog visits last night, I bumped into Barton Originals post about how she's been feeling frustrated about not being able to start her work, and she had many comments by different people, regarding pretty much about a general feeling of the same "thing".

I wonder if it is in the heat, stars, constellations  or something, as I was having the same kind of funk not too long ago.  For now, I am going to do what Gary Reef says: Stop thinking and start doing.

Yeah! Where are those brushes and paint!?

~*~
Updated few hours later:

"You are the right person, this is the right time, you've paid your dues, you're thinking the right thoughts, you're doing the right things, and this very moment, you are exactly where you're supposed to be... poised for the happiest time of your life."

The past text, shared by Zelodious.. thanks!

Baby update!

For those following the babies in their tour, here is an update!

The little fairy (made by Carolyn) has hair now and I was so tempted to work more on her, but she still has another stop before going home. This time she had a travel companion (Made by Sue), but he is staying with me a little longer :o)

Now with her new red hair and a fairy hat:

You can read more of their adventures HERE

Note: skip this if you don't like to read strange postings.

I had been in a "sad and blue" mood for a few days, which is unusual as I am a happy and silly person, and love to laugh. But due to many little (and not so little) things happening around me, I had been feeling deflated and droopy. I don't like to blog about negative stuff so I have been avoiding posting.

I am better now, but from my little negative corner I even started to question my art. Why to do it? Why to even bother. I got depressed. Then I got angry.

I prefer to be angry in any case, you know? Because when we are sad we just plop and melt... but when we are angry we DO things (hopefully good things!) So I went all angrily stomping to clean my mess... Which made me feel better because I could finally see my stuff.
It was quite a bumpy road, and I am happy to be back to my normal self. Well, maybe "normal" is not the best word to use but whatever ;o)

Then next day I sold a doll and a painting in my Etsy shop... and next day I sold an ACEO in my ebay. That sure put a big smile on my face.

Seriously, it means the world to me! I printed that in stickers and and put it in my art pieces. It means the world to me.
I really mean it. Xo)

And in that cheerful mood, I will leave you with a cute picture:

Chillin'

We went to the coast over the weekend, and it is such a nice change on weather, scenery, color... I want to share some pictures. Of course the ones I took are the silly pics, and the wonderful views were taken by my son.
Both my kids take such great pictures!
(Yes, I am momma crow, but in this case, Im-a tellin' ya, they are good! :oD)

Sorry, I just had to include a picture of Scruffie....!

Put it one way, (and you can quote me on that) we all see the same things, but most of us don't get to click :oB he he he

My tiny Alice for the challenge in ADO Blog.

Creating this sweet little Alice was a lot of fun! She is less than 3 inches tall.

Happy Birthday Frida!

Today is Frida's Birthday, and I want to celebrate the month of July with a big invitation to all creative people,  to come join me making ACEOs with the theme Frida Kahlo. Make a portrait, or any art card based on her art and list is in any site (Art Fire, Etsy, Ebay, etc). I love collecting Fridas myself and it is such an inspiration to me an many others that this is going to be fun.

So, to participate, you have to make an ACEO Art card, any material, medium, style and number of pieces. Make it original, for this celebration!
List it anywhere you want, but please send me a link here in my blog so I can blog about it and post it on FB and twitter. Sound like fun?

Come and play, we have all month to create as many Frida inspired art as you like!

Happy 4th of July

I hope everyone has a good Independence day! Panzon and Scruffie will be indoors, enjoying the fireworks from a distance. Keep it safe guys! Don't burn any fingers!

~*~
Although this next comment is not related to art, is very closely related to my heart. I am sadden for all the destruction Hurricane Alex has caused to the north of Mexico.
My prayers and thoughts are with you my friends! I hope it stops raining soon!

Rivers overflown

Main arteries broken and destroyed.

It will be a long road to re construction. Worse than 1988 Hurricane Gilbert's mess.

Christmas in July!

Well, here I go again!
Along with the ADO Frida mini challenge in July, I am in the middle of a Christmas in July sale in my Etsy shop. I made a banner and although I was going to start after the 4th, what the heck, I will start now when I can...!
Who knows what unsuspected thing will happen next! (Did I mention one kid seems to have broken his hand? And the other seems to have lost the cellphone? Oh, and a pregnant kitty adopted me as a Pet Hospital?... And Scruffie knocked down a chunk of the fence... the list goes on and on....)

So, now is the time! :o}  I am going to list many things I never listed before, and some I am re-listing at a sale price. Nothing is "Christmas theme" ok? But I have Halloween, mermaids, Divas, Fridas... If you have seen something in the blog that you want and I have not sold it, just ask me! I really want to free some space to be able to paint again! :oD

Well, I will be adding daily till I'm done listing. Look for items with the tag CIJ
Wish me luck!

Oh! And I hope my Canadian buddies had a nice Canada day!
