Day 23: Doodle on a page and make a face in the art journal

I wrote a love letter with a water soluble pencil and then invited a #paintbrush to dance for the #29faces (^._,^)

Day 6. Painting details in the human face.

When I started to work on Visual journals, I had no idea I was going to like it so much.
There is certain kind of magic to go back and find a page to finish, or to add something else, and leave it for more later on.
In this page I worked some more in some layers I had left for months, and it felt good to make a face, and add many more details.

It is almost 1 week already! A How are you doing?
And in case you are new to it, here are the links, info, button etc...

Painting a portrait on collage Collab

This is how I made a portrait on the awesome collaged piece that Sarah Trumpp sent me for a collab work.I had a general idea, and I knew I had to integrate the final figure with the stenciled heart. The result is one of the most surrealistic paintings I ever made :o)

So much art....

...and so little post to show it!
Funny when I'm running the 29 faces challenge I seem to be always around the blog, but  even when I am still doing as much art, for one reason or another I don't come here to post :oP
For one thing, I am doing the 100 day project and posting it all in (gasp!) Instagram. Yes, I know, I left tons of networks with a self memo not to join anything anymore, and I have been happy that way, but this one project runs there and felt like a big incentive, and I found out taking a pic with the iPad and posting/sharing from there too is a lot easier.... BUT I do not like it as a place to socialize. I think it is as bad as Pinterest and less organized. Not for me except for posting my 100 projects.
With all that said, here is an image of some of the stuff posted there:

I haven't taken pictures or scan them so all I have is the iPad image.

In other news, I have a new video too!

Can you tell I have been in a neon pink kind of mood? :oD
If you want to make a video art-collab with me, let me know! You have to have a youtube channel though ;o)

Thanks for visiting!

29 faces of 29 faces challenge

The last face was "pulled art" in my journal. She ended up being a swimmer without a suit. lol For some reason some of my paints end up bald or clothless.
This is a detail. The full image is after the page-break.

I always feel a bit sad that the challenge is done, after so much  activity,  sniff-sniff ;o)
but I think it is also good that we take one day to reflect on all the pieces done, and see if we want to take a new direction in our work, if we learned a better way to do something, or if we want to keep experimenting with a new medium.
Thank you so very much for playing along with me!
Now we will have more time to visit all the blogs and enjoy the eye candy!
See you soon!

Two faces for today, 27 and 28 of 29

I made a face yesterday but didn't make it to the scanner... so today I am working on another face and posting early.
These 2 ladies are faces 27 and 28 of the challenge and also are the faces of 2 traveling journals!
The one with the sun in the forehead is for Gina, and the one with the moon is for Anita. You will see them finished in another post, along with all the other ones that I have been finishing without scanning.

I cannot believe we are about to finish another round of 29 faces!

face 24 of 29. Charcoal

The weather was beautiful today! I ran my errands early, some chores and then I went out among some light rain and some sunshine. Beautiful!
So basically I got home and rushed to finish more stuff, one of them being the face of today. I decided on charcoal. I still need to work on the eyes, but since I am aiming at loose brushstrokes .... I will leave it at that and go back to paintbrushes for now :oD
If I start getting into details I will never stop lol

My old paintings need new homes.

Some artists destroy their old work, their rejects or what they no longer "feel", as we all change styles over time. That's fine for those that can do it.... I can't.

Even if I'm not that style anymore, it is something I felt, something that inspired me and made me grow, and something that one person somehow still can relate to.

I'm going to say good bye to some paintings to new homes. If you have read my blog before, you know I have been into every media, so there's a bit of everything. Some are framed too, ready to hang.
Please help me spread the message! If you think a friend of yours might like to see, share this post ♥ I ask for shipping costs -or frames- via paypal.

Here are the paintings, by medium.Click to see larger.  Post here or email me in private.

24x18 inches - Pastels, double matted and in clear bag: (Because of the risk of mailing pastels too far away, I rather have these shipped to US address only!)
1- Bird of paradise     2- Woman with baby by Calla lili.   3- Pottery

16x20 Oils, framed: Make me an offer, plus shipping. Click to see large
1-Woman with blue eyes. (not available anymore!)

These framed Acrylics were actually for a show with a tropical theme, that unfortunately had lots of tropical rain that weekend and hardly anyone showed up for it, oh the irony!... but the colors are very happy and the frames are very nice.

My word for the year

So, half way to the month and I finally have my word for the year. It should be like a monthly mantra (weekly! daily..?): Focus

For those that have been reading my blog for a while you know how I get into 5 projects at the same time, then I add a couple of more things with gusto. Like Snoopy tap dancing, lol...  But then after a few weeks things start to stretch a bit too much.

Well, Focus I will!
In my list of things to do, some of the items will be scratched out. Like doll making and  most likely the doll blog, which is still up and full of great tutorials, but will not be updating for a few months. I'm sure I will go to it again later on though, I love making dolls.

In the art department: As much as I love Encaustics, there is no time to play with it. I haven't been able to work and take pictures to post here, and my weather doesn't help much. It is either too hot to be playing with it, or too cold for me to enjoy painting outside. And when the weather is nice, I want to be out there going places ;o) Off the list.

I had already scratched off pastels for the same reason: weather and the fact that it has to be done outside or else have a mess indoors.

Avoiding laundry and dusting... What? Did I say that?

I want to concentrate more on making videos, classes and listing on my shop.
Of course the challenges are in the list! 29 faces is too much fun.
Finishing my art journal. Starting another one while taping each page, that will be perfect.

Can you tell I have Spring colors in my mind?

I'm uploading a video shortly, keep an eye over here  (✿◠‿◠)

Old posts

After so many years of blogging I have to say, there are plenty of silly posts, but there are some that are worth reposting or updating.
This is one of them. Updated from HERE

The feeling is still the same.

Another Art Journal page

I didn't want to post anything yesterday, with all the terrible news from Boston.
Today I have this page which started as a more angular design, got lost in the layers, took a very scary turn until finally ended in something I agreed with. Has a little collage rice paper:

Thanks for visiting, have a wonderful day ♥

April 11, 2013

Well then...

Some days are so frustrating! yesterday was one of those days... too many little annoying things to mention, and no internet connection. I just kept telling myself "this is nothing, this is nothing."

I decided to dedicate the time to paint and plan projects and better yet, take a video! I had everything settled down, clicked to start and after a few minutes puff! The battery died. And of course I am using the camera that uses a rechargeable battery. Which takes like 3 hours to recharge. ლ(ಠ_ಠლ)  agh!
So I got the other camera, went to get ready for another painting and I cut my finger with something invisible. lol I have no idea what it was! But a chunk of flesh was missing from my index and it hurt a lot! Well then!
I decided to take a deep breath and do something else.

At night the stars were better aligned I think, because everything went smoother. With a bandaged index I started a new page in my art journal and today I finished it, the video will come soon (hopefully!)

Dream!
Update: Thanks for all your comments! My finger healed after 2 days, just a little red dot now ♥ The video is HERE

I hope your day is beautiful and harmonious.

One more for the weekend

I'm kind of liking this style, quite different from my usual! This is a bunch of layers less than what I am used to, before I feel it's done. Unless I am working on watercolor-like, then I do things very differently.
Not sure if I could do it in ACEO size but I will try :oD

I am including this one in the last day of the "10 day painting" from Jane Desrosier of Gritty Arts.
