So here are 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 ...
As you can see I made a lot of digital images. Not my cup of tea and stretching out of my comfort zone....  still a lot of fun!

13th face, digital art

What can I say? It is a lot of fun to play with digital art. I invite everyone to try it at least once. Most cellphones can download an artsy app, or get one for the iPad, computer etc...

I have to confess, I lost track of my goal of  "loose brush work" because I used the pen thingie and I really have no clue what I'm doing there LOL I'm sure there's a bunch of large brushes options to paint, but well.... Nevertheless, it is fun!

27 and 28 running late!

Photos for today's faces!
I do not practice enough my photography, which is a funny thing in this time and age when everybody and at all times people are over-documenting their photo-lives with selfies hahaha :oP

Well, anyway, we went out of town and I came across a shop with statues. So beautiful! I wish I had the space for one, and the way to bring it home.... they were so heavy!

This face is No 27:

And face No. 28 is the image altered digitally:

No. 8 with crazy texture

As much as I love texture, this was particularly difficult to deal with :oD
It is very abstracted, and I am sure it is still in process, since I am not totally done playing with it.... The second one is digitally edited:

No. 6 and more effects

I think I'm liking the digital effects, even if I don't have a fancy app here, but what a different look you get!

Do you have a favorite app?
OH! And the winner of my giveaway is Maria Medeiros! Congrats!

Hearts!

One more time I'm running to chase myself and can't keep up hahaaha
I posted in FB an invitation about the "Hearts in July" project/activity. -Formerly known as 31 hearts- I don't call it a challenge necessarily, but I think I should since it seems to be a challenge just to come scan and post! (°‿~ )

Anyway, for those that did not see it in FB, feel free and totally invited to paint/create/find hearts around you. I picked July because it is our wedding anniversary month, and also because it is not fair that only February is all decorated with hearts ( ♥‿♥)

Here is one of my hearts, gelatine mono print, and digitally modified a bit just for fun:

Let me know if you make any hearts to go see them!
Thanks for visiting

Day 16 of 29. Fire red

Another WIP in my art journal plus a cool digital effect. I think I like the digital version better!

I also want to take a moment to THANK you all for the wonderful hearth-warming comments about the 29 faces challenge... some of them have moved me to tears and I'm not kidding.
So much love and joy has to come out all wet from my eyes at times haahah yes, I am that silly.
Creative people meeting more artsy people in a far away place and making a new friend, that will bring something positive to their lives. It is a beautiful thing. ♥

Busy Monday.

Being today President's day, we had a holiday, which meant lots of fixing things around the house, all the kinds of things you don't really want to do. Poor DH ♥

Some days ago we went to see the Warm Bodies movie, I liked it. It is funny and creepy-cute, not horror and just a couple of startles here and there, nothing serious.
I decided to make "R" in a pencil sketch: face #19th

But I couldn't leave it alone, so I added color:

It doesn't look close to the real guy, the face should be narrower. But it is close enough for a zombie, I think.... if you have seen the movie, you tell me :o)

These are my daughter's 20th and 21st faces:

I ran out of pages in my journal!! Well, I have only been using the right sides, so I guess i could start using the left sides and I will still have space for a while :o)
As you can see, I am not good at keeping an art journal well organized. :oP

Just 10 days more  (or less, depending where you live in the world!) of 29 faces in 28 days!
I hope you are enjoying yourself ♥

A little tribute 12 of 29 faces

My post today is more positive. I decided to just think of my friend with all the good things she enjoyed. I don't want to think  of what she couldn't do or the years of friendship that we won't have.
So I will celebrate her life.

She loved warm and hot days, not cold. She moved to Los Angeles based just on the weather :o)
She loved black shoes, the color red, and  all kinds of fruit. She loved wearing mascara and perfume and french braids. She loved to walk by the beach, flowers and shells. She liked pop music and song birds, she hated cigarettes. She loved flavored coffee creamer. She liked cushy pillows and fancy comforters. She hated December and January and insisted in wearing short skirts just to spite the weather. :o)   In her mind it was always summer.
She was very strong minded, determined and independent.

I made a folk painting. It is not finished but that's all for today.

And my daughter is way ahead of me! She made 3 faces today! I just love how easy it is for her to make emotions on her characters... These are her 12th, 13th, and 14th faces:

Sad face. 11th of 29 faces

A couple of days ago I was told about the death of a dear friend. She was only 47, and she was always so healthy and mindful of her life choices, doing exercise, not smoking... etc. And she had a tumor in her head, that came back again shortly after a surgery. I feel so bad that I was not there for her. I didn't even know.... I am broken hearted. I really couldn't believe it till I spoke to her sister today.

Life is too short. Love today, talk to your friends today, hug your parents today and don't hesitate to do what you really like, because today is all we have.

My daughter's digital art:

Thanks for visiting and I hope you are enjoying the 29 faces challenge as much as I am, it brings joy to my heart. Blessings.

February 8, 2013

so, I kept going...

...Did you think I was going to stop painting it? lol
I know, most people said to leave it at that stage, so I compromised.
I actually made a larger print, prepped it, and went for it with skin tones, which over green don't look so warm but it is interesting.

And my daughter made an elf:

Plus I started another which will continue tomorrow ♥

We are starting our 2nd week, can you believe it?

5th face of 29

This is my face for today. If you see her by itself, it is fine.... but if you see my source, well... doesn't look like it! Half the time when I'm trying to work on a style I mess up, but at least I like the result. I am going to give it a wash in ochre so it looks old.

My inspiration... (I'm not Leonardo, you can tell)

My daughter's two faces for today:

Don't forget to make an extra face before the month is over!! I have been working on 2 and taking video... I will show you soon! Editing is the pits! I don't want to have such a long video that takes forever to upload.

2dn day of 29 faces

These are our faces (mine and my daughter's) for this second day:
She had more time to work her digital art today:(Frankly, I am amazed with what she can do! I will never even understand the app :oP)

I had less time today.... just a WIP. I am using a very old book that was in my MIL's garage for the past 40 years of more. Will insert it in my journal when I'm done.

Thanks for visiting!

Almost done...

We are so close to the end of this challenge! Where did the month go?
Here's another cut paper, over textured paper, scanned, digitally messed up, I mean, enhanced, and cropped. I think it looks cool, in all the colors like that. Kind of pop-art.

This is how it started:

With all the trouble my thumb has been giving me, I am tempted to do a month of hands, but I am missing painting portraits already, so not sure if I am running another challenge, or just take it easy till the kids go back to school and my thumb is more cooperative.
There is a lot of video to edit, so I better work on that as well...

Thanks for visiting, stay cool! Unless of course you live in the south hemisphere, then stay warm and toasty :o)
