So, half way to the month and I finally have my word for the year. It should be like a monthly mantra (weekly! daily..?): Focus
For those that have been reading my blog for a while you know how I get into 5 projects at the same time, then I add a couple of more things with gusto. Like Snoopy tap dancing, lol... But then after a few weeks things start to stretch a bit too much.
Well, Focus I will!
In my list of things to do, some of the items will be scratched out. Like doll making and most likely the doll blog, which is still up and full of great tutorials, but will not be updating for a few months. I'm sure I will go to it again later on though, I love making dolls.
In the art department: As much as I love Encaustics, there is no time to play with it. I haven't been able to work and take pictures to post here, and my weather doesn't help much. It is either too hot to be playing with it, or too cold for me to enjoy painting outside. And when the weather is nice, I want to be out there going places ;o) Off the list.
I had already scratched off pastels for the same reason: weather and the fact that it has to be done outside or else have a mess indoors.
Avoiding laundry and dusting... What? Did I say that?
I want to concentrate more on making videos, classes and listing on my shop.
Of course the challenges are in the list! 29 faces is too much fun.
Finishing my art journal. Starting another one while taping each page, that will be perfect.
Can you tell I have Spring colors in my mind?
I'm uploading a video shortly, keep an eye over here
I really, really like your word! It was my word last year. Similarly, I picked Balance this year. I completely relate to everything you said about it!
ReplyDeleteD~~~~
Please tell me that it worked for you! :oD
DeleteVery pretty painting with gorgeous purple hair! Super color. And great word. I need focus too, lol :)
ReplyDelete'Focus' is an excellent choice and will definitely help you do all that you really want. I love the spring colors on the face and the texture on it.
ReplyDeleteI like the fun colors!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great word! Yes, it's far too easy to get caught up in too many projects and ideas. I always get frustrated when I then end up with too many started projects, and nothing really done. Focusing and planning more is definitely something on my list too for this year. My goal is to actually finish a sketchbook, not just start one after the other :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful portrait, love the vibrating colour, she looks so happy and cheerful!
The elusive Focus is an excellent aim for the year. There are so many interesting things to try (and sometime dusting and cleaning distract us from them!)...it's good to make decisions on what takes priority, at least in the next 12 month! ;)
ReplyDeleteThere is just not enough time in the day for the things you want to do sometimes. Glad you will be focusing! Have fun with all your projects!
ReplyDeleteLovely portrait, Martha. I had to laugh at your word, because whenever I'd get so scattered dashing off in 6 directions at once, my husband would say: focus, honey, focus!
ReplyDeleteI had focus as my word last year and about July I lost it and went that to my crazy overextended life! This year I am going for 'hold lightly'. Hope you do better than me. But I will sure focus on your 29 faces in Feb! Love your girl.
ReplyDeleteA great word, but one I have great difficulty with as have a butterfly mind. Love the pretty colours in your painting. Happy PPF, Annette x

Love the artwork Martha and 'focus' a word I will try and use sometimes LOL... Maybe with getting a FULL 29 Faces completed in Feb??
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome!
DeleteWow, you are crazy busy - Martha. Focus is a great word and a good reminder throughout the year to keep on track. Sad to hear encaustics got sidelined :( - but I am a little biased in their favor :) I'm hoping I can participate in an abbreviated version on 29 faces in Feb - I do love it so and I would be sad to not participate - but we have a lot on the plate for our late winter months - but I'll do my best!!
ReplyDeleteI know.... I barely started with encaustics... I will keep all my suplies :oD
DeleteMarji, WIPs are welcome for the 29 faces! I enjoyed all your work last time!
