It's Friday...Friday... gotta get down on Friday

Gotta get down on Friday...
Here is the silliest video I have seen in a long time:

I finished the crow mask doll, but I have not taken the pictures yet, but I have a little picture of the new clay baby I'm making, hope you like it!

Have a wonderful weekend! Don't forget to give your mom a hug, even if only in your heart :o)

These past few days...

... have been so crazy busy with all kinds of things! House stuff, kids stuff, life stuff. But one awesome stuff is that, coincidentally, I have many visiting Art Dolls at the same time!

I have a sweet piggy from Sue, in the touring babies (I still have to take nice pics):

A gypsy (made by Jenna), here visiting with Wren (made by Jan) And dear Wren just left with baby Ingrid.

A monsterish lady, who is getting a body (from Mealy Monster Land) -I don't have pictures ready for posting but she is looking awesome!

...Oh! And remember Zeb and Calee? They sent a postcard!

Thanks Lezlei, that was a really cute idea!
Now I have to plan to sit and list in my shop all kinds of goodies that I have ready to go. One more baby will go soon to ebay, and more ACEO to my Etsy shop.

Here's the other one!

I made her a dress, bonnet and that's the hardest part of all, not being a seamstress... But what do you all think? I picked a very cheerful orange color :o)

Here's with the other baby girl and a Teddy bear to give an idea of size.

Another picture:

I am not sure yet where I'm going to list them. I guess I can try one in each site? (Etsy and ebay)
Thanks for visiting!

Small, tiny and super tiny

I was making a polymer clay baby in a smaller size than what I usually make... but it still was too big for what I needed.
One is 3 inches, the other 2.50 more or less
So I made an even smaller one. It turned out cute if I may say so myself, first time I make babies with closed eyes. They both have a soft body and moving limbs.... and the tiniest toes  Xo)

But... it still was too big! So I ended up doing the smallest clay baby I have ever made.

The third baby has a solid body... and it's cold!

I wish I could take a closer picture. Even with my zoom still doesn't show the toes and wrinkles heheeh
The fist one still needs an outfit and hair.

She has hair and a dress now

The second one, just her hat took me the whole day to make that little thing! And for the third one I made a bonnet smaller than that.
Ah, much better with a hat and a blankie!

I will post more pics as I go.  :oD

How not to take pictures

I am delighted to announce the birth of  Timmy. He is a tiny 5 inch polymer baby, and he will go places playing the touring baby blog with a mouse, a piggy, a frog, and another baby.
This is a WIP picture before curing the clay:

Taking pictures of your dolls is a whole different art. It requires creativity, and some camera knowledge. I don't  claim to be an expert at all, but I know what not to do ;o)
As I was taking pictures of this polymer baby, I came across all the problems in the book: bad  lighting, shadows, bad angles, weird background... and also an unwanted visitor (aka Panzón) and decided after several "photo bombs" that I needed to post them in the blog. Here you go:

Baby looking in the wrong direction.

Weird lighting and shadows. Needs cropping.

Light is too sharp . Goofy cat in background.

Total fiasco. Bad shadows, blurry. Photo bomb cat.

I cropped the best picture of the session, and this is the result:

I'll go pack him to go to his 5 States tour. Ta ta for now!

Dolly update

OK, I worked on this baby's hair, and eyebrows, doesn't she look completely different? I hope Rhonda likes her! Dory made the dress but I had to trim it to size because this little baby is so tiny :o)

If you want to see more of the babies in their tour, come to the blog to see them all HERE

The pitter patter of little feet...

clayNo, not in my house! ;o) But they are tiny little feet, and they are wandering little feet.
Next week I will post more about this project we are working on, and promisses to be so much fun!
Here is a little preview:

I hope everyone has a safe and fun long weekend!

New baby in the making

I am currently working on a new baby. I think this one will be a boy, but you know how it goes! You can't never be sure until the hair and outfits are on!
I took the picture before sculpting the ears, I think is looking cute so far, what do you think?
Well... gotta go feed the poopies!

Valeria ballerina and her friend Bunny

Valeria Ballerina can barely walk, but she loves dancing and playing with her white bunny...

She is listed on ebay

Now, for some people sewing is a relaxing easy hobby. For me? it's a love/hate relationship with my sewing machine. I love fabric, and I know a couple of things about patterns, but for tiny size dolls, gosh! I have a stressing time to try new things! :oP I was all happy to make a legless baby onesie.... well, after 3 days I gave up, and it ended up being a pretty cute set of.... long pants pajamas! LOL

WIP of doll swap and the beach...

I am so thrilled to show you these pictures! I rarely participate in swaps because it's stressing for me, but once a year or so, I can survive a swap :o)
So for this doll swap we are doing bundle babies. I won't say who is the person I am sending it to because it is a surprise... Xo)

Here is the sculpted head with quilting to form the body:

Here he is with his outfit and hat:

Cozy in his blanket... I still need to add a few touches , like ribbon

I guess he's about 5 or 6 inches by the time I wrap him and all.

....Oh! We went to the coast a couple of days ago. It was great to feel a bit of chill after so many days in the 100's here in town! (38 to 42 Centigrades) This time I did remember to carry our sweatshirts! We were enjoying the cool weather even when it was a bit overcast.

Website's new look, and baby elf WIP

Last night, somewhere close to midnight, after months and months of working off and on in the updating of my website, I finally finished. HERE is the old look I posted months ago.
And HERE is the new look which includes dolls, WIPs, ACEOs, paintings, cool links on tutorials and how-to on all the stuff I love. Unfortunately I lost all my page hits and counter in the process... oh well....
I hope you can visit and enjoy it. As hard as it was for me to settle into one style, it was a lot of fun and I am glad I am done.... for a good while anyway! All the updates will still be here in the blog, but there's one thing missing... items in my store and auctions!! lol
Here's a new baby elf I am playing with. She still needs her hair, but she has not told me yet if she likes purple or yellow better. :o)

February 26, 2009

Before February is gone...

I hope everyone had a wonderful Groundhog day, Valentine's day, President's day, Mardi Gras, and why not, Ash Wednesday as well...

Updates, OK, The video I talked so much about some postings ago went great. We got an A+! yaay! I have to shorten it a bit to unload it here, it's too big so "whenever if ever" I will upload and post. It is actually a very funny video, and it is educative as well, since it had ti be based on the Odyssey.

Now as for dolls.... I have been finishing all the half-finished projects, so the poor things can be done.
Remember the one picture with several DOLLY heads? I just finished the smallest of them, and if I may say so myself, she turned out pretty cute. I made her hat with leather and a tiny bell so she can be seen and heard ;o) Just 3.5 inches tall, hat and all.

Video

My first post in 2009!
I have been working on and off on this little video, for a group of friends who love to sculpt polymer babies. I uploaded in the past some versions of it as I was working on it, (I deleted most of them) and I think this is the last version.

I simply admire the talent of this wonderful ladies, enjoy!

Doll revisited, redone, rewigged

In my personal experience, in any kind or creative/artistic endeavour.... you mess up. Sometimes the mess up is better than the original plan. But sometimes it's only worthy to be admired through a trash bag. :o)
After sweating over this little cute baby-doll face, I did not want to mess up, but I did. The hair was not right, and I have to admit I am used to more hair than new-born baby hair. The result? A somewhat gummy, hard looking wig on my poor baby.

So I left her sitting there until the technology advanced (yeah right lol) it's more like, until I learned more, to deal with it. :oD
So.... One fine day I went and yanked all the hair. It was scary and painful! I did not dare to take a picture. Poor thing looked like "Certain pop-singer that shaved her hair". I had already decided that I was going to give her fuller hair, which is not new-born look, but it's her look.

What do you all think? I'm liking her a lot better! She still has her ponytails, and her cute "busy bee" dress, but now she's updated and redone.

Trying to keep up...

Is not even cold yet and half the house hold has had already a cold, fever or both. Except me, I reserve the right to remain healthy until the Airborne Sebastian guy shows up in my town. Have you seen that Goofy Commercial ? It's a crack up!

Oh! I was sculpting for a while the other day, and came to the computer to check on
something. When I turned around, my doll had disappeared! I walked around, went to check different places to see if I took her somewhere else, though I was
sure I left her on the same table.
So I went around and around till I heard a little giggle and saw
something moving by the corner. HUH? I couldn't believe my eyes... I
ran to get the camera. See for yourselves, I caught it on
film, she was hiding from me. hehehehe

So she's still bald and hiding, and I'm silly. Now, the little baby elves I got to catch? Those were nicely done and have colouful hair and a nice little cozy pouch.
What do you think?
