5th face of 29

This is my face for today. If you see her by itself, it is fine.... but if you see my source, well... doesn't look like it! Half the time when I'm trying to work on a style I mess up, but at least I like the result. I am going to give it a wash in ochre so it looks old.

My inspiration... (I'm not Leonardo, you can tell)

My daughter's two faces for today:

Don't forget to make an extra face before the month is over!! I have been working on 2 and taking video... I will show you soon! Editing is the pits! I don't want to have such a long video that takes forever to upload.

Richard III in 29 faces

My face for today is very special. A few weeks ago I was looking at old portraits, to admire the clothing and elements in the art. It is something I love to see, plus the style of working and painting centuries ago. I came across a portrait of Richard III and was fascinated by the colors and the background brushwork, very rough, at least in the images I found, compared to more later paintings, where everything is so smooth and velvety.
So for me, to read today that his skeleton was found and his DNA analyzed.... well, it is really exciting! What a coincidence!

This is my sketch for today.... not so great, but maybe if I paint it it will look better:

This is my daughter's digital work. She had homework so she was in a hurry:

This is the image of Richard III:

Read more about the discovery HERE and if you like history, learn about his life HERE.
My fascination with history was a little seed well planted by my History teacher in sigh school, and I thank her for it, even if at the time it was a chore hehehe

2dn day of 29 faces

These are our faces (mine and my daughter's) for this second day:
She had more time to work her digital art today:(Frankly, I am amazed with what she can do! I will never even understand the app :oP)

I had less time today.... just a WIP. I am using a very old book that was in my MIL's garage for the past 40 years of more. Will insert it in my journal when I'm done.

Thanks for visiting!

I know is going to be a great month full of "ah-hA!" moments, while we all discover new ways to do our art, and new cool people to visit online.

My face today:ACEO size with acrylics

And this one is my daughter's, digital image of a wooden puppet:

Are you having fun? I am!

Just a note: do not include in the Linky links to facebook (that is not a blog, and a lot of people can not see it) and remember to add your labels. Instructions HERE
Also, if you notice very little comments, it might be the captcha verification words! They can be a real pain, and half the time they are glitchy.

The coast

Over the past weekend we had a short trip to the coast. It was rainy and gray over here, but sunny and dry over there. A bit too windy to really walk on the sand, but nice enough to enjoy the shops and an art event they had. It was a lot of fun. Xo)
I took some photos: (Don't forget to click on the page brake to see more images)

Oh! and in case you are participating on the 29 faces challenge, visit the new blog I made for it! HERE ...we are just a few days away!!!

Movies and art

We went to see the movie Les Miserables couple of weeks ago, and we liked it, but I wish I had known more about the scene when Fantine's life turned even worse, because it was not something to watch comfortably with my kid. I know, many movies have worse, including the TV, but I filter a lot :o)
Anyway: tear jerker as expected, visually fantastic, musically fine.

So, my daughter was inspired to create this artwork:

This, made the film better for me.... I am so proud of her  (◠‿◠)✌

Did you check my Giveaway? It's only days away!
